This May, Macy’s continues its long-standing AAPI community support with a give-back campaign to APIA Scholars and by highlighting products from select Asian-owned brands in-store and online
New York, NY – May 2, 2023 - In celebration of the strength, tenacity, resilience and contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to our communities, Macy’s honors AAPI Heritage Month with a focus on Enduring Culture. Unlimited Potential. As part of the brand’s social purpose platform, Mission Every One, from May 1 through May 31, Macy’s will host a round-up and charitable donation campaign to benefit APIA Scholars. Customers can donate online or round-up their in-store purchase amount and donate the extra change, up to $0.99 to benefit student scholars on their road to future success. Additionally, Macy’s will spotlight Asian-owned brands in-store and online, showcase colleague representation and more in its ongoing commitment to take action to amplify diverse-owned businesses and creators.
“In honor of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Macy’s is spotlighting and celebrating the history and accomplishments of the AAPI community,” said Bobby Amirshahi, senior vice president of Macy’s, Inc. Corporate Communications. “Through our social purpose platform, Mission Every One, we are committed to continue our work with APIA Scholars and local communities to raise critical funds that will provide students with the resources to advance to higher education, and to create a foundation for success.”
In 2022, APIA Scholars was elevated from a local grant partner to a national Macy’s cause campaign partner. Since 2007, Macy’s has raised more than $2.2 million for APIA Scholars, impacting thousands of students through scholarships, emergency funds, and mentorship.
“We are delighted that Macy’s is renewing its support for the Asian American and Pacific Islander community and the round-up campaign this year. Their continued commitment helps our Scholars, many of whom are first-generation college students and from families at poverty level, overcome financial hurdles to attain higher education. Our partnership with Macy’s allows us to fulfill our mission in lowering financial barriers in order to educate, elevate and empower students in our community.” said Dr Noel S. Harmon, President of APIA Scholars.
