Macy's Brings Fun and Fashion Together for Kids This Back-to-School Season

Interactive Programs Enhance Back-to-School Shopping Experience with Spelling Bees, KIDZ BOP and More!

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Macy's (NYSE:M) today announced a series of unique special events and promotions to secure its place as the national back-to-school headquarters. Showcasing the latest trends, affordable brands and engaging educational activities, kids of all ages will go back-to-school in style and ready to learn. From KIDZ BOP sing-alongs to Spelling Bee competitions, families can visit their local Macy's this back-to-school season and rediscover the magic of being a kid.

FUN FAMILY EVENTS FOR THE BACK-TO-SCHOOL SEASON

Macy's is the most exciting place to shop for kids this school year with special events and exciting fashions that will have them revved up and looking their best to learn their ABC's, including:

KIDZ BOP - Macy's and KIDZ BOP, the #1 music brand for kids ages 5-12 in the U.S., are teaming up this year for a rockin' back-to-school promotion. The KIDZ BOP Kids are starring in Macy's TV and print advertising campaign, and the TV commercial features a song from the hit music series' upcoming CD release, KIDZ BOP 18 (available July 20). If dressing like these breakout stars isn't enough, kids can visit select Macy's locations to meet the KIDZ BOP Kids in person for special performances and meet & greets. With any $35 children's purchase, consumers will receive the new KIDZ BOP 18 CD! Macy's has also created a dedicated KIDZ BOP back-to-school microsite, where kids can learn more about the KIDZ BOP Kids, get free KIDZ BOP music downloads, watch exclusive content and enter to win the "KIDZ BOP Ultimate FANtasy" Sweepstakes. READING IS FUNDAMENTAL - Macy's and Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) are partnering again this year to host the fourth annual Book A Brighter Future campaign. This effort, held at local Macy's stores during the back-to-school season, aims to raise money for local RIF programs and to provide reading resources to underserved children in an effort to raise awareness and support for children's literacy. The program also provides a great shopping incentive for families doing back-to-school shopping. From June 30 through July 31 at Macy's stores nationwide, customers who donate $3 will receive $10 off one purchase of $50 or more. Macy's will donate 100% of every $3 to RIF. Last year's Book A Brighter Future campaign raised $6.5 million through the generosity of more than 2 million Macy's customers and employees.

MACY'S 5TH ANNUAL SPELLING BEE - Kids will have the chance to spell the day away at a local Macy's Spelling Bee competition. The annual Spelling Bees will take place in 30 cities beginning August 7 with a grand finale in Macy's Herald Square in NYC on September 26. Each local winner will also receive a year of online learning from Kaplan Tutoring and a $150 online gift card from Scholastic. The winner of the Final Spelling Bee on Sunday, September 26 will receive a $5,000 Kaplan Tutoring Scholarship and a $500 Scholastic online gift card.
