Macy’s and NYC & Company Enhance the Tourist Experience at Macy’s Visitor Center as Part of the Macy’s Herald Square Store Renovation
Co-Branded Visitor Information Center Debuts at New York City’s Iconic Department Store
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Capitalizing on Macy’s (NYSE:M) global appeal and New York City’s vital tourism and shopping industry, Macy’s and NYC & Company announce a first-ever collaboration to bring a world-class tourist experience to the World’s Largest Store. Opening today, Macy’s new Herald Square Visitor Center is now co-branded with NYC & Company as an Official NYC Information Center offering many new services to enhance the customer experience for travelers. As part of the extensive renovation plans for Macy’s Herald Square, Macy’s Visitor Center will now be upgraded with NYC & Company’s state-of-the-art technology, information, and ticketing services for NYC attractions that cater to both international and domestic tourists. With the historic remodel of one of the world’s most iconic and dynamic department stores, the collaboration between Macy’s and NYC & Company is an exciting next chapter to the evolution of Macy’s Herald Square.

With the renovation, Macy’s Visitor Center, located on the Mezzanine Level, has been re-imagined as a state-of-the-art space with dynamic Information Screens, Concierge Terminals, and Digital Touch Screen Kiosks that provide up-to-date information on: Attractions, Dining, and Nightlife among other areas of interest for tourists to explore throughout the five boroughs. Through the Visitor Center’s new redesign, first-time windows connect visitors to vistas of the bustling outdoor streetscape below on 34th Street.
In addition, the enhanced Visitor Center will offer concierge-type services to restaurants, tours and special offers on tickets to more than 80 major attractions and events in the City, plus NYC & Company’s official visitor guides, maps and brochures. NYC & Company partnered with Google Maps to power the Visitor Center’s interactive kiosks Map and Directions function, providing tools for visitors to more easily navigate the City. Macy’s Visitor Services provides popular incentives such as the International and Domestic Savings Program which gives travelers a 10 percent off discount on most purchases throughout the store with qualifying documentation such as a government issued ID. The Savings Pass can be printed from any of the 4 interactive kiosks or from the concierge desk staff in nine languages including Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. Macy’s Visitor Center also provides language translation assistance, store tours, special group programs, and other tourist information.
In 2011, Macy’s, Inc. announced an unprecedented four-year, $400 million renovation to its corporate flagship. Begun in 2012, the renovation, will transform the store into one of the most technologically advanced, fashion-forward and exciting destinations in the world with new designer departments, epicurean experiences and multi-level luxury shops. Upon completion in 2015, the Herald Square store will increase its selling space from 1.1 million to 1.2 million square-feet.
