Macy’s Kicks Off Ninth Annual National Thanks For Sharing Campaign
Macy’s 2011 holiday rewards program runs through Dec. 31, 2011
MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- This week, Macy’s (NYSE:M) kicked off its ninth annual national Thanks For Sharing holiday rewards program, which allows customers to give back to charities in their communities when they enroll in the program at their favorite Macy’s store or on macys.com/thanksforsharing. Thanks For Sharing has supported communities nationwide with donations of more than $80 million over the last eight years.
“Macy’s Thanks For Sharing campaign continues to thrive as one of our most popular rewards programs and is a key initiative for our holiday season," said Martine Reardon, Macy’s senior vice president of marketing. “Thanks For Sharing represents the combined efforts of our customers, associates and charity partners and has made great strides in raising much needed funds for organizations in communities across the country, each of which counts on Macy’s financial contributions.”
In 2011, Thanks For Sharing will benefit four national charities; the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women® movement to beat heart disease as the No. 1 killer of women, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® which funds clinical and translational research to prevent and find a cure for breast cancer and Futures Without Violence®, formerly Family Violence Prevention Fund, which works to end violence against women, children and families around the world. A number of regional organizations will also benefit from Macy’s highly successful program, including organizations such as local Boys and Girls Clubs® and Big Brothers Big Sisters®.
Thanks For Sharing debuted as a key Macy’s initiative in 2003, offering a program from which customers benefit during the holiday season but from which charities benefit throughout the year. For a one-time $25 enrollment fee, Macy’s cardholders can earn rewards equal to 10 percent of most Macy’s and macys.com purchases made with their Macy’s credit card from the time of their enrollment through Dec. 31, 2011(some exclusions do apply, see stores or visit macys.com/thanksforsharing for details). For each Thanks For Sharing program member, Macy’s makes a $10 donation, up to a total of $15 million, to designated charities, with the first $3 million benefiting the Go Red for Women movement. Upon enrollment, customers will begin earning 10 percent rewards on their qualified Macy’s purchases that are made on their enrolled Macy’s credit cards through the end of the year.
Beginning in February 2012, individuals enrolled in Thanks For Sharing will receive their accumulated rewards in the form of a Macy’s gift card, which can be used at any Macy’s store or on macys.com. Details on rewards components of the program also are available online at macys.com/thanksforsharing or at Macy’s stores nationwide.
