Macy's, Inc. Contributes to Japan Disaster Relief Efforts

Product partnership with Polo Ralph Lauren will support fundraising

CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Macy's, Inc. (NYSE:M) today announced a three-part contribution to international relief efforts in Japan following the disastrous earthquakes and tsunami. Together, these contributions have the potential to raise more than $1 million for this important humanitarian cause.

    --  Macy's, Inc. will make a corporate contribution of $100,000 in cash to
        the American Red Cross for earthquake and tsunami relief on behalf of
        Macy's and Bloomingdale's associates across America.
    --  The Macy's Foundation will match, on a dollar-for-dollar basis, all
        employee contributions of $25 or more to the American Red Cross and
        other U.S.-based organizations providing rescue and relief assistance in
        Japan. The contributions are subject to the customary guidelines and
        limits of the Macy's Foundation's Matching Gifts program.
    --  Macy's and Bloomingdale's will support Polo Ralph Lauren's effort by
        offering a Ralph Lauren mesh Japan Relief polo shirt that will be sold
        to customers at select Macy's stores, Bloomingdale's stores and on
        macys.com and bloomingdales.com. The shirt will sell for $98, with 100%
        of the proceeds donated to Central Community Chest of Japan, part of
        United Way Worldwide.
