Timothy G. Baxter
Chief Merchandising Officer
Tim Baxter was named chief merchandising officer of Macy’s, Inc., in February 2015 after serving as executive vice president and general merchandise manager for ready-to-wear since April 2013. For more than 23 years, he has served in a variety of merchant roles for Macy’s and The May Department Stores Company (acquired by Macy’s, Inc., in 2005). Baxter began his career as an executive trainee and assistant buyer at L.S. Ayres in Indianapolis in 1991 and has served in roles of increasing responsibility in a wide range of merchandising categories. He led Macy’s fashion office, multicultural business development and licensed business from March 2012 to April 2013.
Robert B. Harrison
Chief Omnichannel Officer
Robert B. (R.B.) Harrison has been Macy’s, Inc.’s chief omnichannel officer since January 2013. In February 2015, he assumed responsibility for the technology infrastructure, programming, site development and analytics for macys.com and bloomingdales.com, bringing all of the company’s technology capabilities under a single executive officer. Since July 2012, he served as the company's executive vice president for omnichannel strategy. In addition to his role managing the development of strategies to closely integrate the company’s stores, online and mobile activities, Harrison is responsible for the company's systems and technology, logistics and related operating functions. He served as executive vice president for finance since 2011, president for stores since 2009 and president and chief operating officer of Macy’s West since 2008. Harrison became president and chief operating officer of Macy’s Northwest in February 2006 following Macy’s, Inc.’s acquisition of May Company. Previously, he had been chairman of Robinsons-May since October 2004, having served as its senior vice president and chief financial officer since June 2002, as well as the senior vice president for finance of the Meier & Frank division before it was merged with Robinsons-May. Harrison began his career at Kaufmann’s in 1986 as an accounting analyst and served in positions of increasing responsibility before becoming vice president and controller of Kaufmann’s.
Jeffrey A. Kantor
Chief Stores Officer
Jeff Kantor was named chief stores officer in February 2015 and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of store strategy, management and operations, including the field stores organization of regions, districts and stores with responsibility for localizing the customer shopping experience and customer engagement. He also is responsible for store visual merchandising, store design and construction, and real estate.
Kantor was named Chairman of macys.com in February 2012 after serving since August 2010 as macys.com’s president for merchandising. Previously, Kantor had been Macy’s president, merchandising for home since May 2009. From February 2006 to May 2009, he was president for furniture for Macy's Home store. For the previous two years, Kantor was president of the Hecht’s/Strawbridge’s division of the May Department Stores Company, which was acquired by Macy’s, Inc. in 2005. He also served as senior vice president and general merchandise manager for cosmetics, accessories, dresses, suits, intimate apparel and hosiery at the Boston-based Filene’s/Kaufmann’s division of May Company. Kantor joined Filene’s in Boston in 1981 as an assistant buyer for men’s.
Chief Private Brands Officer
Molly Langenstein was promoted to chief private brands officer in February 2015 after serving as executive vice president for men’s and kids at Macy’s Private Brands since April 2014. Previously, she was Macy’s executive vice president for fashion and new business development and general merchandise manager for categories appealing to customers in the Millennial generation. Her 30-year merchandising career has included assignments as general merchandise manager for men’s and kids at Macy’s Florida (Miami), for Millennial at Macy’s West (San Francisco), and for ready-to-wear at Macy’s North (Minneapolis) since joining Miami-based Burdines in 1985. Langenstein also served briefly as a merchandising executive at May D&F.
Chief Marketing Officer
Richard A. Lennox joined Macy’s, Inc. in September 2016 as chief marketing officer, with responsibility for Macy’s omnichannel market presence and strategy, including brand, promotional, store, digital and events marketing activity.
Prior to joining Macy’s, Lennox served as senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Toys “R” Us since 2014, with responsibility for all components of marketing strategy for the company’s portfolio of brands. This included leading the development of brand strategy and optimizing the company’s marketing and digital presence to drive sales growth and customer loyalty.
For the five years prior to Toys “R” Us, Lennox was executive vice president/chief marketing and e-commerce officer at Zales Corporation, where he was instrumental in the development of the company’s strategic business plan and marketing approach across channels.
From 1992 to 2009, Lennox was a senior-level executive and strategist at J. Walter Thompson, where he led the De Beers Group, overseeing all operations for its U.S. marketing function, as well as new product and business development. Lennox served as JWT’s executive vice president/U.S. marketing director for De Beers. In his tenure with JWT, Lennox also was account leader for major brand clients, including Kellogg’s, Nestlé, Unilever and Warner Lambert.
Lennox hold a bachelor’s degree from Reading University in Berkshire, England.
Chief Strategy, Analytics and Innovation Officer
Justin MacFarlane joined Macy’s, Inc. in February 2016 in the new role of chief strategy, analytics and innovation officer, with responsibility for Macy’s strategic development, consumer and customer research, data analysis, innovation and development of future new business opportunities. MacFarlane previously was with ANN INC., a company he joined in 2010 as senior vice president for corporate strategy with responsibility for strategic planning, consumer insights and research, and execution of enterprise strategic initiatives. Previously, he served in a number of senior-level roles in leading consulting firms, including leadership roles in the global retail practices of AlixPartners and Kurt Salmon Associates.
MacFarlane holds a bachelor’s degree from Babson College and an MBA from Duke University. He lives in the New York City area.
Patti H. Ongman
Chief Merchandise Planning Officer
In January 2015, Patti Ongman was promoted to chief merchandise planning officer. In this role, she is responsible for centralized merchandise planning and assortment allocations by store, as well as the district/region merchandise planning structure and function that supports the signature My Macy’s localization strategy. Previously, Ongman was executive vice president for omnichannel strategy. Before that, she served for more than three years as executive vice president and general merchandise manager for handbags, accessories and intimate apparel and two years as executive vice president and general planning manager for cosmetics and shoes. Ongman joined Macy’s in 1979 as a sales manager at Davison’s in Atlanta and has served in a wide variety of roles across multiple families of business, including as a general merchandise manager for ready-to-wear at Macy’s West and Macy’s Northwest, regional vice president at Macy’s Home Store and store manager at Macy’s West.
Chief Growth Officer
Peter Sachse was named chief growth officer of Macy’s, Inc. in February 2016 with responsibility for all Macy’s merchandising, as well as Macy’s Backstage, Bluemercury and international expansion. Sachse served for the previous year as Macy’s, Inc.’s chief innovation and business development officer, and for the three years before that as Macy’s chief stores officer. He was Macy’s chief marketing officer from 2009 to 2012, along with serving as chairman and CEO of macys.com since April 2006. He was president of Macy’s Corporate Marketing from 2003 to 2006. Prior to serving in these roles, Sachse was president and chief operating officer of The Bon Marché in Seattle.
Sachse began his retail career with Macy's in Kansas City and was a division merchandise manager at Macy’s/Bullock’s in Atlanta. He was also executive vice president/general merchandise manager at Macy’s East and was later promoted to vice chair/director of stores of Macy’s East. A native of Sheboygan, WI, Sachse lives in the New York City area. He holds a degree from the University of Wisconsin.
