Earning for Learning (EFL), Macy's unique volunteer grants initiative, gives associates an opportunity to provide $250 grants to schools in which they give time for educational programs. Earning for Learning was created as a commitment to America's Promise in 1998, and since that time has given more than $900,000 to 1,000 schools nationwide. About 62,000 hours of mentoring and tutoring have enriched the schools in 34 states that are most important to our associates.

EFL underscores Macy's long-term commitment to education by supporting tutoring, mentoring and other educational activities, and giving grants through the Macy's Foundation to accredited public and private elementary and secondary schools. EFL encourages Macy's employees, retirees, and their immediate family members to get involved in their children's schools, in Partners in Time-paired schools, or in neighborhood schools.
