In 2006, associates contributed more than $5 million of their personal funds to approximately 4,700 charitable organizations across the nation. These associate gifts were doubled by the Macy's Foundation, which matched associates' gifts dollar-for-dollar.

Our Matching Gifts program was expanded in 2006 to enable the Macy's Foundation to match associates' gifts to most organizations holding a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt certification from the Internal Revenue Service, and the minimum donation matched was lowered to $25.
