MACY’S • BLOOMINGDALE’S
Bag Hunger Provided 71 Million Meals for Hungry Families in 16 Years
During the annual Partners in Time Bag Hunger food campaign, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and our business function and central office locations band together to help alleviate summer hunger – a time when food pantry shelves are often bare and school meal programs are not offered. With the generous action of Macy’s employees, in conjunction with Macy’s Matching Gifts Program, thousands of pounds of food and volunteer hours are donated each year.
In 2013 alone, a total of 12.5 million pounds of food and equivalent monetary contributions were given by our associates. In addition, volunteerism for hunger-relief charities was a special focus in 2013 with associates giving 26,340 hours of community service to this cause. Throughout the country, volunteers packed food at pantry warehouses, assembled box lunches for hunger-relief agencies, and served meals at soup kitchens, putting their passion for giving back into action.
Since 1998, Partners in Time has provided an equivalent of 83.9 million pounds of food, plus volunteer service to benefit families facing food insecurity throughout the country.
