Associates of Macy's, Inc. have a generous spirit that makes our "give back" value come alive every day. In 2007, associates donated $14.4 million to the various United Way workplace campaigns held throughout the company. Combined with the $4.5 million contribution from the Macy's Foundation, our total giving of $18.9 million positions Macy's, Inc. in the top 25 of the United Way's National Corporate Leadership companies.

Macy's Foundation Matching Gifts Program
Macy's associates also donated another $4.3 million of their personal funds to approximately 3,300 charitable organizations across the country. These associate gifts to eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations were matched dollar-for-dollar by the Macy's Foundation.

Earning for Learning
Earning for Learning (EFL) is a grants-for-schools program of the Macy's Foundation. By volunteering time for mentoring and tutoring at their local schools, associates and their immediate family can earn a $250 grant for the school. In 2007, 102 EFL grants totaling $25,500 were awarded to 78 schools across the company. Approximately 3,300 hours of educational volunteerism has been given to schools through EFL and more than $900,000 has been contributed since the program began in 1998.
